Job Title: Assistant Head of SFX
Description
Founded in 2000 by world renowned Art Director and Producer Franco Dragone, the “Franco Dragone Entertainment Group” designs, produces and puts together live shows combining post-modern dancing, music, circus arts and special effects.

Since it was created, the “Franco Dragone Entertainment Group” has garnered the admiration of critics and spectators alike and has enjoyed phenomenal successes with, among others, “Le Rêve”, Céline Dion: “A New Day”.

For its new water show in Macau, Franco Dragone Entertainment Group is looking for an Assistant Head of Effects :


1. Description:
Reporting to the Head of Effects, the Assistant Head of Effects is responsible for assisting in the leadership of the special effects team to install, maintain and operate atmospheric, flame and pyrotechnic special effects systems and equipment in a safe and consistent manner for the City of Dreams show; the incumbent also runs department show tracks.


2. Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible / Accountable
 Oversee Special Effects Department operations and coordinate departmental activities, as directed by the Head of Special Effects;
 Supervise the proper storage, operation, maintenance and disposal of gas and pyrotechnic effects as required by the ATF and in accordance with local codes and regulations; maintain all required documentation;
 Operate special effects control console for performances and rehearsals as required, and develop show track rotation and backup for other department show positions;
 As directed by the Head of Special Effects, preserve the ongoing, long-term artistic integrity of the effects during performances and for rehearsals in keeping with the original intent of the Special Effects Designer;
 Maintain a safe working environment by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures; participate in all required safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
 Work with the teams in developing rescue and safety strategies.
 Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsals, training, maintenance and evening show performances;
 Inspect and maintain special effects equipment and systems; update maintenance, inventory, and inspection records as directed; work with the Head of Special Effects to develop systems and procedures;
 Work with the technical team to develop and maintain a safe working environment by leading the special effects team in conforming to all established safety policies and procedures; participate in all required safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
 Develop a thorough knowledge of all special effects equipment specific to the production in order to operate equipment safely;
 Participate and oversee special projects, including the installation of new special effects show elements;
 Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the Head of Special Effects.
Job Requirements

4. Qualifications:

Education
• College diploma in a related field.

Experience
• Five years as a special effects technician on a large-scale theatrical production; field experience with repairs of special effects equipment

Other Skills
• Strong computer knowledge required
• Experience troubleshooting and operating LN2 fog systems, stage smoke/hazers, natural gas flame effects, pyrotechnic effects; appropriate pyrotechnic and flame effects licenses an asset.
